Year 2003

In 2003, Siemens has arranged a number of activities to support the operation and service targets of Po Leung Kuk. A cash donation of HK$10,000 has been given to them through the arrangement of Corporate Citizenship Golf Tournament in January 2003. Some 15 cartons of toys and clothes were donated to the Children’s Home of Po Leung Kuk in March 2003. For a period of one year from March 2003 to March 2004, Siemens has also donated HK$12,000 to Po Leung Kuk’s Child Sponsorship Program.

Apart from the donations to Po Leung Kuk, Siemens also supports various organizations. It donated some used office equipments and appliances including fax machine, shredder, electronic typewriter and two computers to St. James Settlement.


 
During the most critical moment of SARS’ outbreak in April 2003, donated some 80 cartons of apples, 200 packs of Easter eggs and specially designed greeting cards to the medical professionals in 9 public and subsidized hospitals to show its appreciation of the sacrificial spirit of these people. Besides, it donated some surgical protective gears such as surgical masks, nurse caps, disposable gowns and jump suits for the medical professionals to fight against SARS.

In order to support the education in teaching people how to maintain personal and home hygiene during SARS’ outbreak, Siemens has donated HK$12,500 to Hong Kong Council of Social Service for supporting the production of 1,500 VCDs on SARS care procedures.

In September 2003, to celebrate the Mid-autumn Festival, Siemens donated some Moon Cakes, fruit baskets, cash coupons as well as some cash dollars to St. James Settlement for them to distribute to the members of the District Elderly Community Centre in Wanchai, as well as the members of the Day Activity Center for Moderate and Severe Grade Mentally.

In the same month, Siemens also provided a sponsorship of HK$20,000 to support the publication of the Winning Projects in the 2003 Best Practice Awards in Social Welfare organized by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service to encourage more organizations to participate in social welfare services.

On 30 September 2003, we have also joined the Community Chest Dress Casual Day by collecting and donating HK$20,000 to support
