Message from the Chairman

Nowadays, most of the Hong Kong people are so busy, especially under a few years of economic downturn that people need to keep themselves busy in order to prove their values. Even if some people have got spare time, they will attend lots of training courses in order to enhance their working value.

I am glad to be able to participate in volunteer service with lots of support from our company. I think life has a lot of meanings and consists of not only work, but also care and responsibility for the communities. Following one of the corporate principles, Corporate Citizenship, our Hong Kong office set up a volunteer team in November 2003. Up till now, we have already got more than 30 members. Our objective is to perform social services to those needy people in the society.

Many volunteers, after serving the needy on different occasions, have better understanding that the satisfaction got from materials is incomparable to that obtained from helping the others. Through meetings and coordination work, team spirit among colleagues has been enhanced. Most of them think more positively and their work efficiency has a lot of improvements.

In spite of the short history of our Volunteer Team and the fact that mainly senior citizens have been served in our activities, we hope that in longer term the team would expand and serve different types of needy people in the society. We will also partner with other organizations to serve more people.

I believe that the more effort we pay, the better will be the social atmosphere and the more harmonious the society will become.
