OSRAM
OSRAM, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SIEMENS, is one of the two
leading lighting manufacturers. Sales for the OSRAM group of
companies worldwide in the year ending September 2005 totalled
4.3 billions euro, 88 percent of which came from outside Germany.
OSRAM has developed from a classic light bulb manufacturer into
a high-tech company in the lighting industry. Around 40% of
sales came from innovative products. It is the market leader
in automotive lamps and has a leading position in electronic
control systems and

optoelectronic semiconductors.
OSRAM employs more than 38,000 employees worldwide,supplies
customers in some 150 countries and has 49 production
facilities in 19 countries.OSRAM has
been present in Asia for several decades. We have companies
and sales offices in 11 countries and 9 factories. OSRAM
Asia Pacific was established in January 2006 to improve
our presence and coordination of activities in Asia Pacific
with the global divisions and functions. |
OSRAM Asia Pacific Ltd.,
located in Hong Kong, is the Regional Headquarters of OSRAM
GmbH for the Asia Pacific Region. It is responsible for the
business development of OSRAM companies in this region. The
company also provides marketing, financial, human resources,
legal, purchasing, and logistics support.
OSRAM Prosperity Co. Ltd. was established
as a sales and distribution joint-venture to market OSRAM’s
entire range of products in Hong Kong and Macau. The majority
of these products are imported from Germany, although a growing
number are imported from OSRAM's facilities throughout Europe
and the rest of the world, including China and Indonesia.
For over 20 years, OSRAM has been recognized for its high-quality
products and has established close links with government sectors,
utility companies, major contractors and local dealers. In Macau,
OSRAM lamps can be found not only in private households, government
and utility offices, but also in major projects such as Sands
Macau and Wynn Macau. OSRAM Lighting
Control Systems Ltd. (OLSC), a joint venture with
a manufacturing facility in China, sells and markets world-class
electronic control gears for China and overseas markets. The
control gears are designed not only to produce the same quantity
of light as conventional control gears, but also to produce
energy savings of up to 75 per cent in fluorescent lamps.
With high-operating frequency and enhanced luminous efficiency,
these gears also produce high-quality flicker-free light that
could otherwise not be achieved.
In 1993, two joint ventures were established between General
Electronics (Overseas) Ltd. and OSRAM, with an office in Hong
Kong and a manufacturing facility in China employing more
than 4,000 people.
Since 2005
the China facility hosts a Design Center for electronic
control gears employing more than 50 engineers with the
mission to strengthen global development resources and
to capitalize on opportunities in the Chinese market.
